In a recent article from World Population Review on those countries that have very successful education systems, we find many that focus on their students developing critical thinking skills.
Two examples are Estonia and Poland. Estonia focuses on critical thinking, creativity, and digital literacy – starting as early as primary school. Poland also has a focus on critical thinking and problem-solving. Both of these countries achieve very good results, though their levels of expenditure on education are not as high as other countries. As the report says, ‘Estonia is proving that excellence doesn’t require extravagant budgets’ and Poland spends only $8500 per student but ‘it’s making waves in Europe’.
It’s clear that critical thinking in schools can help to deliver impressive results.
